Bahiagrass is best used for pasture, close grazing is desirable. It is also used for hay and erosion control. It is mainly used for beef cattle production, but can be used for equine grazing as well. Bahiagrass is an all-purpose grass that has less diseaes and insect problems than most of the other warm season grasses. It is grown over one million acres in Mississippi. Most of this acreage is in central and south Mississippi. The three most popular varieties of Bahiagrass are Pensacola, Argentine, and Tifton 9. |
